Loop Rd.
Pinot Noir 2016

A charming wine showing spirited fruit intensity, luscious flavours and a hint of spice rounded up with fine tannins. A taste sensation.

Vineyard

Vintage 2016 fruit has been sourced from vineyards located in the Bendigo and Pisa sub-regions of Central Otago. Each location has been carefully selected to ensure a combination of high degree growing days, cool nights and gentle north sloping land. Soils consist of Waenga fine sandy loam and Letts steepland. All vineyards are registered under the sustainable winegrowing management standards.

Vintage

A cool but dry September led into a warm and dry October followed by a frosty November. Summer was long and dry with below average rainfall. The warm weather continued through to harvest with hotter than average temperatures. A solid growing season has resulted in the fruit quality being regarded as up with the some of the best vintages.

Winemaking

Hand-picked in ripe condition between 31st March and 6th April. 6 tonne fermenters were used to cold soak the fruit for 3 - 5 days before indigenous fermentation took place peaking at 30°C. This was then pressed off to barrels 10% new, 20% one to two years old and 70% three years old. Aged in barrels until bottling on 10th February 2017.
